Safety & Risk Disclaimer
This page summarizes important safety, security, and risk disclosures for using ATEK Grid, including virtual-world interactions, user-generated content, third-party links, Hypergrid travel (if enabled), and platform stability. ATEK Grid is owned and operated by Virtual World Search, Inc..
S1 — Overview
Virtual worlds involve real-time interaction with other users and user-generated content. While we take reasonable steps to moderate and enforce our policies, we cannot guarantee that every interaction will be safe, comfortable, or appropriate for every user.
S2 — Adults-Only Environment (18+)
- 18+ only: ATEK Grid is intended for adults. If you are under 18, do not use the Services.
- Age verification: we may request reasonable verification if required for safety, compliance, or enforcement.
- Zero tolerance: content or behavior involving minors in a sexual context is prohibited and will result in immediate enforcement action.
S3 — User Interactions & Harassment Risks
Social interaction is core to a virtual world, but it can include risks such as harassment, stalking, bullying, targeted abuse, and unwanted contact. While these behaviors are prohibited by our policies, they may still occur.
- Use platform tools: block/mute users, leave regions, and use reporting tools where available.
- Protect your identity: avoid sharing your real name, address, phone number, or other sensitive information.
- Boundaries: if a situation feels unsafe, exit the interaction and report it.
S4 — Scams, Fraud, and Phishing
Virtual worlds can attract scams and social-engineering attempts. Bad actors may impersonate staff, lure users to fake websites, request credentials, or attempt to trick users into transferring assets or GTs.
- Never share passwords or verification codes.
- Verify staff: be cautious of unsolicited messages claiming to be staff. Use official contact channels.
- Links: treat links with caution and confirm the domain before signing in.
- Transactions: only transact through approved systems and trusted venues.
S5 — User-Generated Content (UGC) Risks
Many experiences and regions are created and operated by users. As a result, UGC may include mature themes, strong language, or content some users find offensive. UGC can also include misleading claims or unsafe links.
- Public content may vary: region owners may set their own rules and themes subject to ATEK policies.
- Adult content controls: adult content must comply with designated region rules and any applicable restrictions.
- No guarantees: we do not guarantee the accuracy, quality, legality, or safety of UGC.
S6 — Hypergrid Travel Risks (If Enabled)
If Hypergrid travel is enabled, you may visit third-party grids operated by independent parties. Those grids may have different safety practices, moderation standards, and technical security. You travel at your own risk.
- Third-party control: ATEK does not control third-party grids, their staff, their policies, or their infrastructure.
- Data sharing: limited technical identifiers may be exchanged to facilitate travel and session continuity.
- Content standards: content and conduct standards may differ from ATEK policies.
S7 — Technical, Stability, and Data Risks
Virtual-world platforms can experience outages, lag, bugs, database issues, asset delivery problems, viewer compatibility issues, and occasional data loss. We take reliability seriously, but no online service is perfect.
- Downtime: services may be unavailable during maintenance, upgrades, outages, or attacks.
- Asset delivery: content may fail to rez or load due to network or server conditions.
- Data loss: while we use backups and safeguards, data loss can occur due to failures or corruption.
- Viewer choice: third-party viewers are not controlled by ATEK; use reputable viewers and keep them updated.
S8 — Reporting & Support
We encourage reporting of policy violations and safety issues. Reporting helps us identify repeat offenders and enforce rules.
- Include details: avatar name(s), region, approximate time (SLT), and evidence if available (screenshots/logs).
- Urgent threats: if there is an immediate real-world danger, contact local emergency services first.
- Good faith: reports should be truthful. False or abusive reporting may itself violate the AUP.
