Terms of Service
These Terms govern your access to and use of ATEK Grid, including the website, OpenSim-based 3D environment, supported viewer connectivity, Hypergrid features (if enabled), and any approved tools or services. ATEK Grid is owned and operated by Virtual World Search, Inc..
Acceptance and Scope
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legally binding agreement between you and Virtual World Search, Inc., the owner and operator of ATEK Grid (“ATEK,” “we,” “us”). They govern your access to and use of the ATEK website, the OpenSim-based 3D environment, supported viewer connectivity, Hypergrid features (if enabled), and any ATEK-approved services, devices, or applications (collectively, the “Services”).
By accessing or using the Services, you confirm that you understand these Terms and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.
Eligibility (18+ Only)
- Adults only: You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or access the Services.
- You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with the laws and regulations applicable in your location.
- We may request reasonable age verification where required for safety, compliance, or enforcement.
Accounts and Security
- You are responsible for all activity conducted through your account, avatar identity, or login credentials.
- Do not share accounts, passwords, access tokens, or authentication codes.
- Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access or suspicious activity.
- Impersonation, credential theft, or attempts to bypass authentication are prohibited.
User Content, Intellectual Property, and DRM
ATEK Grid supports creative content created by users, including builds, scripts, textures, sounds, snapshots, and machinima. Creators retain ownership of their original works, subject to applicable law and third-party rights.
- Permissions are the DRM system: OpenSim copy/modify/transfer settings define allowed use. You agree to respect them.
- No copybot / no circumvention: using tools to bypass permissions, export protected content, or exploit vulnerabilities is prohibited.
- License to operate the platform: by uploading or displaying content, you grant ATEK a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, and transmit it solely to operate and promote the Services.
- Music/media: if you stream copyrighted music/media, you are responsible for obtaining all required licenses and permissions.
Rules of Conduct
- Prohibited behavior: harassment, stalking, bullying, threats, hate speech, discrimination, doxxing, or targeted abuse.
- Prohibited activity: fraud, scams, phishing, malware distribution, spam, or manipulation of systems for unfair advantage.
- Platform abuse: exploits, denial-of-service behavior, malicious scripts, or attempts to disrupt services are prohibited.
- Adult content controls: any adult content must comply with designated region rules and any applicable restrictions.
- Reports: we may investigate reports and take action at our discretion for safety, compliance, or integrity.
Hypergrid and Third-Party Services
If Hypergrid travel is enabled, you acknowledge that limited technical identifiers may be shared with other OpenSim grids to enable travel and session continuity. Third-party grids and sites are not controlled by ATEK and may have different rules, content standards, and privacy practices. You use them at your own risk.
Game Tokens (GTs)
ATEK Grid uses Game Tokens (“GTs”) as its platform currency. GTs are a closed-loop utility token for platform features and approved transactions. GTs are not legal tender and are not intended as an investment vehicle.
- GTs are provided as a limited, revocable license to use within approved systems.
- Fraud, abuse, charge disputes, or violations may result in GT restrictions, freezing, reversal, or forfeiture.
- Unapproved exchanges, external sales, or use for unlawful activity are prohibited.
- Refunds are not guaranteed and may be limited except where required by law.
Termination and Enforcement
- We may suspend or terminate access immediately for violations, safety risks, legal compliance, or operational needs.
- Enforcement may include content removal, access restrictions, region reclamation, and limitation of GT activity.
- We are not required to provide advance notice when urgent action is needed to protect users or the platform.
Disclaimers, Liability, and Indemnity
The Services are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Virtual worlds can experience downtime, data loss, and unexpected behavior; you accept these risks.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ATEK will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill. Our total liability for claims arising out of or related to the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) amounts paid by you to ATEK in the prior 12 months (if any) or (b) USD $500.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ATEK and its operators, staff, and contractors from claims arising from your use of the Services, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
